The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., injuring three males and one female. Two other females suffered minor injuries while trying to flee the area, police said.
Footage posted to Twitter shows a man shooting a victim in front of the Tabarek store before chaos erupted (WARNING: the video below contains disturbing footage).
The shooting stemmed from an altercatoin between several men inside the JC Penney's wing, police said in an update Sunday evening.
One of the individuals was armed with a handgun fired multiple shots. All injures were considered non-life threatening.
Investigators were processing the scene for evidence and gathering video footage from surveillance cameras as well as personal video recorded by persons who were at the mall.
The property owner and PR director released the following statement to Fox 43.
“We are saddened and angered by the unfortunate, isolated incident that happened in our shopping center today.
"We are grateful for [the police’s] swift action to contain the situation. Our highest priority right now is the well being of our guests and tenants.”
Investigators were also conducting numerous interviews with witnesses and employees.
The investigation is still in the early stages and investigators are working to determine what led to the original altercation and subsequent shooting.
